The Municipality of Bologna chose to carry out a re-lamping project to also install the Trails remote-control system and enable adaptive lighting in the Roveri industrial area, specifically on Via dell’Industria, one of the high-traffic roads among the city’s main access points, and its branch road, Via dell’Elettricista.
After installation, adaptive regulation (applied in compliance with the UNI 11248 standard) delivered energy savings of 40% on Via dell’Industria and over 55% on Via dell’Elettricista, the side road with lighter traffic.
On Via dell’Industria, high-speed traffic also generates a particularly high level of noise — a factor that the Trails system, based on sound analysis, is able to detect and monitor directly.
Energy saved
Via dell’Industria is one of the high-traffic roads among the city’s main access points: the municipality needed to regulate lighting based on actual traffic (TAI), reducing consumption without compromising safety on the faster-flowing sections.
We installed 108 Trails Island Sound AI devices, connected to 2 Trails Gateway Compact units. Together, they form 3 adaptive lighting groups that adjust brightness based on actual traffic in the area.
