Adaptive TAI and FAI lighting on existing NEMA-ready lamps

We measured the lighting actually produced by the existing lamps, already equipped with NEMA readiness. After adjusting the Trails devices, energy savings reached 30% and can grow further at any time. TAI adaptive lighting (based on traffic data) can exceed 50% in savings. FAI adaptive lighting was enabled by connecting Trails Island Sound AI nodes to an SDL20T luminance probe, which measures the street’s environmental conditions in real time

The challenge

The Problem

The municipality had an existing lighting system, with lamps installed years ago and fitted with NEMA connectors, and needed to make it adaptive, enabling both TAI and FAI regulation, without replacing anything

The solution

We installed 377 Trails Island Sound Bernini AI devices, connected to 5 Trails Gateways. The devices also interface with an SDL20T luminance probe, enabling, in addition to TAI regulation based on traffic data, FAI regulation based on real environmental conditions.
