Trails Solutions
Smart remote-control systems for public and industrial lighting
From the adaptive lighting system, which adjusts light in real time by classifying street sounds, to panel-based remote control for accurate management of system power lines and energy consumption measurement.
Adaptive lighting
Trails
The adaptive lighting system powered by intelligent sound analysis
For accurate control of every lamp.
By combining the physical and mathematical analysis of sound with artificial intelligence, the system turns every street lamp into a sensor that classifies the surrounding soundscape: it extracts event statistics and vehicle counts, adjusts brightness based on what’s actually happening on the streets, and cuts energy consumption by over 50% on average, always respecting the European GDPR and in general citizen privacy.
The Three Elements of the Trails System
Trails Island Sound AI
- Installs on your existing streetlight via ZHAGA connector
- Continuously analyzes and classifies ambient sounds
- Adjusts brightness in real time
- Not Privacy Invasive, GDPR compliant by design
How it works
Trails Island Sound AI is an LCS (Lighting Control System) that, in addition to functional diagnostics, continuously analyzes and classifies ambient sounds using artificial intelligence algorithms.
It recognizes traffic type and volume, weather conditions, and ambient noise levels.
Using this data, it adjusts brightness in real time, in full compliance with the EN 13201 standard. Sounds are classified locally on the LCS device, never recorded or stored: the system is respectful of citizen privacy and GDPR compliant by design.

| Interface | HTML5 Control & Insights Supervisor. |
| Integrations | MQTT, Open API for interoperability with third-party systems (CRM, ERP, urban mobility systems). |
| Lifecycle management | Device commissioning, profile configuration, OTA updates. |
| Security | GDPR compliant by design, encrypted data, no recording of sound content. |
Services
Trail City Platform: more than monitoring, real-world data from your territory, on a single dashboard.
It collects data transmitted by devices installed across your territory. It lets you view the operating status of every streetlight, receive alerts on anomalies and faults, generate automatic reports, and configure lighting profiles in both scheduled and adaptive mode. It manages the entire system lifecycle, from initial device activation to firmware updates, and was designed by the Trails team to integrate easily with third parties via API, MQTT, or other protocols.
Traffic Detection
The system quantifies traffic and classifies vehicle types, providing data useful for adaptive lighting control and urban mobility planning.
Weather Disturbances Detection
The system detects the intensity of weather disturbances such as rain and wind, and lets you activate specific alerts, for example, warnings related to geological risks in landslide-prone areas during severe rainfall.
Sirens Detection
The system detects ambulance sirens and alarms, letting you set up alerts and giving the possibility to bring lighting to full power as soon as these events are recognized in real time.
Noise Pollution Monitoring
The system collects data on sound intensity and generates noise maps to identify urban areas with the highest concentration of noise pollution.
